Our History
For just over 200 years, the Blackmore Family has been curating adventures on the Miramichi River. It’s in our bones. From Atlantic Salmon & Striped Bass fishing, to hunting Black Bears, Moose, and Upland Birds, we know what makes this region unique and how important it is to maintain the delicate ecosystem. Over the course of several generations, we’ve developed a place where adventurers and nature enthusiasts from all over the world can come together and share the unique experience this land provides. Upper Oxbow is an opportunity for guests to take part in rich traditions that have existed for centuries and will continue for centuries to come.
The Nortons
Debbie Norton (nee Blackmore) and Dale Norton have spent their lives on the Miramichi River, taking in everything it has to offer. They took ownership of Upper Oxbow in 1991 and have been operating it as a family business ever since. With their son, Bobby, the entire family has been continuing a generations-old tradition of tailoring unique experiences on the land they love for guests who share the thirst for eco-friendly adventure. We also strive to provide businesses with an idyllic place to realign, and level up. You can frequently find us on the Upper Oxbow grounds warmly greeting guests and living the life we’ve always dreamed of.

We’re here because there is no other place on earth we’d rather be. This land has everything we could ever want and it brings us so much pride and joy to share it with people from all over. We grew up here. We raised our kids here. They’re raising their kids here.
